Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your files are converted, compressed and merged on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
- If you make an account, we keep your email address and how you sign in.
- We count how many compressions you use so the free limits work.
- We don't sell your personal data.
1. Who we are
Fileflip ("Fileflip", "we", "us") is a website for converting, compressing and merging files, operated by Fons Et Origio Events Organizing LLC, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For any privacy question or request, email fileflip.support@gmail.com.
2. Your files
When you convert, compress, merge, trim or otherwise process a file, the work happens inside your web browser on your device. Your files and the results are not sent to us, and we can't see them. When you close or reload the page, the files are gone from the page.
To do this work, your browser downloads processing tools (for example PDF, audio and video tools) from public content delivery networks. Those downloads contain no file content.
3. What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You create an account or sign in | To run your account, send sign-in codes and contact you about your account |
| Sign-in details from Apple or Google (your email, name and a user ID they provide) | You choose to sign in with them | To sign you in |
| Password | You set one | To sign you in. It's stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider; we can never see it. |
| Plan and billing status | You buy Pro | To give you Pro features |
| Usage counts (for example, compressions used this month) | You use limited features | To apply the free and Pro limits fairly |
| Technical signals: IP address and device characteristics such as browser type, screen size and settings | You use limited features | To stop people from getting around the free limits, and to protect the service from abuse |
| Settings saved in your browser | You use the site | To remember things like your plan preview and usage on this device |
We don't collect the content of your files, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive data such as health or financial account details.
4. Payments
If you buy Pro, the order is handled by our reseller, Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all Fileflip orders. Paddle processes your payment, handles tax and sends your receipts under its own privacy policy. You enter your card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal details on Paddle's secure checkout, not on Fileflip. We receive only what we need to manage your subscription, such as your email, plan, renewal date and payment status. We never see or store your full card number.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We use browser storage (cookies and local storage) that is needed for the site to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your plan and usage on this device, and saving small preferences. We don't currently use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add ads or analytics in the future, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run Fileflip, and only what they need:
- Supabase: accounts and sign-in
- Brevo and Resend: sending sign-in code emails
- Paddle: payments, subscriptions, tax and receipts (as Merchant of Record)
- Apple and Google: only if you choose to sign in with them
- Content delivery networks (cdnjs, jsDelivr, unpkg) and Google Fonts: they deliver the site's tools and fonts, and like any website, they see your IP address when your browser downloads from them
- Our web host: Cloudflare, which serves the website
We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the service (in which case this policy keeps applying). We never sell your personal data.
7. Where your data is stored
Our service providers may store and process data outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States. We choose providers that protect data with appropriate safeguards.
8. How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is open. Deleting your account in Account settings removes it right away; backups clear within 30 days
- Usage counts and technical signals for limits: up to 12 months
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the EU GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of your personal data
- Correct data that's wrong
- Delete your data and your account
- Stop or limit certain uses of your data, or object to them
- Send your data to another service in a common format
You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time in Account settings. For anything else, email fileflip.support@gmail.com from your account's email address. We'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Security
Because your files never leave your device, they can't be exposed through our servers. For account data, we use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and trusted providers with strong security. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
11. Children
Fileflip isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are important, we'll tell account holders by email or on the site before they take effect.
